eoSurgical’s patient-safety initiative wins prestigious Scottish EDGE award

eoSurgical has been endorsed by the prestigious and competitive Scottish EDGE funding award. This is a huge boost to our mission of making surgery safer globally by providing accessible skills-training tools.

eoSurgical is an Edinburgh-based company started by surgeons. Our innovative surgical simulator hardware, performance-assessment software and cloud-based portfolio of skills, enable surgeons to improve their skills in a simulated environment, away from patients.

On 20th June eoSurgical was a winner at round 8 of the Scottish EDGE competition. We were awarded the maximum prize of £100,000 to support our mission of making surgery safer worldwide.

Scottish EDGE is a competition aimed at identifying and supporting Scotland’s up-and-coming, innovative, high-growth entrepreneurial talent. Over 230 companies applied to round 8 of Scottish EDGE, and eoSurgical were one of 22 finalists invited to pitch before a panel of expert judges yesterday.

The company has created a range of simulators for minimally-invasive (key-hole) surgery and micro-surgery. eoSurgical has recently launched an innovative software program, SurgTrac, to provide surgeons with real-time objective feedback on their skills progression as they complete a curriculum of tasks.

The funding from Scottish EDGE will help eoSurgical to continue to develop their unique surgical simulation software through the creation of a mobile application for SurgTrac. Furthermore, the funding will allow eoSurgical to significantly expand their presence in both national and international markets, and support a global launch of SurgTrac.

eoSurgical is proud to have our mission to make surgery safer worldwide recognised and endorsed by this prestigious and competitive awards body.
